Vinification | The hand-picked grapes are pressed in reduction (without oxygen) and left in the press for about 12 hours of non-fermentative maceration, which gives the wine a coppery color and a more complex flavor. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by about 9 months of aging in large oak barrels on the lees, with periodic bâtonnage. |
Production area | The grapes for the production of this wine come from various vineyards on the Pressano hill, an area exposed to cool morning breezes from the north and the Ora del Garda wind in the evenings. The vines, cultivated using the Pergola training system, grow in rich, deep soils with good fertility. |
Production | 10.000 bottles, depending on the vintage. |
Other curiosities
Our Kreuzer Pinot Grigio is the classic expression of this variety. This ancient mutation of Pinot Noir, with its reddish skin, arrived in Italy from France at the beginning of the 1800s.
Like all grapes in the large and aristocratic Pinot family, Pinot Grigio has a very compact bunch, reminiscent of the shape of a pine cone, from which it takes its name. Due to these characteristics, it requires more care and attention in the vineyard compared to other varieties, favoring well-ventilated and cool vineyards.
