Cesconi Società Agricola Semplice
vini biologici sulle colline di Pressano
Siamo una piccola azienda familiare che ha sede sulle colline di Pressano, a nord della città di Trento, con una lunga tradizione viticola che ha inizio nel 1751.
In the archives of Pressano, the surname Cesconi appears for the first time in 1751. Since then the roots of our family have grown, together with the vineyards, on these hills.
our family have grown, together with the vineyards, on these hills. Some documents attest to the purchase of the Olivar vineyard in the 800s. The Nosiola wine that grows there, thanks to the initiative of our great-grandfather Bernardino, were sold as far as Innsbruck. Later on our grandfather Rinaldo, with the help of his son Paolo, began to supply several taverns in the nearby city of Trento with his wines. In the following years Paolo managed with great commitment, to increase the vineyard surface and finally, with the support of his sons Alessandro, Franco, Roberto and Lorenzo, the modern history of our winery begins.
We have deep roots in the organic world, starting from 2009, when we decided to convert vineyard and cellar production to organic. In 2013 we got the organic certification. Two were the reasons for this choice. First, with organic farming we commit to the health of our work environment and product. As far as the wine is concerned, we believe the organic way allows us to obtain very expressive wines, linked to our vineyard and reflecting the vintage.
The production of wine is accompanied by a limited production of intense and pure Extra Virgin Olive Oil, coming from centuries-old olive trees in the Valle dei Laghi, just north of Lake Garda.
Territorio
I nostri vigneti sono suddivisi tra le colline di Pressano e la Valle dei Laghi, nelle vicinanze del Lago di Garda: zone molto diverse tra loro dal punto di vista climatico, geologico, morfologico e naturalistico.
HILLS OF PRESSANO
Our winery is located in Pressano (TN), inside 25 acres between 1.000 and 1.600 feet asl. Here the vines have their roots in a sedimentary soil, known as Werfen formation originated 260 million years ago. These sedimentary soil is composed of a succession of layers of compact sandstone and have the advantage of being very deep, fertile and characterized by a remarkable richness in minerals. The climate is continental, with strong temperature variations between day and night. These conditions are ideal for grapes with great character and therefore for structured, defined and great longevity wines.
White varieties: Nosiola, Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc.
Red varieties: Lagrein.
Valle dei Laghi
The valley is partly crossed by the Sarca river which originates on the Adamello Brenta glaciers and in just 78km it enters Lake Garda. Together with the glaciers that covered the whole Trentino region, it contributed to shaping this area, which today has a Mediterranean climate.
Valle dei Laghi has a sub Mediterranean climate. Ora del Garda – the wind coming from the lake – is a breeze that blows on time, mitigating temperatures and contributing to an ideal environment for the olive tree and other Mediterranean species.
The Prabi vineyard where we cultivate Manzoni bianco is characterized by a subsoil with a high proportion of sand of alluvial origin.
In the Pivier vineyard where our Merlot and Cabernet Franc grow, the soil is rich in clay and silt.
